Reports Reveal the UN Gender Agenda as One-Sided, Ideological, and Indefensible
May 28, 2026 — A recent series of 12 analyses concludes that the United Nations has abandoned a core principle of its own Charter, which guarantees the “equal rights of men and women.” In its place stands a biased, ideological agenda that treats gender equality as a female-only endeavor.
The analyses were conducted by the International Council for Men and Boys (ICMB), and were published March 2 to May 20, 2026. The analyses examined UN policy and practice across 12 areas: education, health, child protection, false allegations, violence, criminal justice, partner abuse, homelessness, fatherhood, workplace safety, reproductive policy, and media.
In each one of these 12 domains, a similar pattern emerged: A substantial male disadvantage for which the United Nations failed to provide a targeted or dedicated response.
The documented areas of neglect include:
- Lifespan and mental health:Men die approximately five years earlier than women worldwide (1). Their suicide rate is nearly three times higher (2).
- Violence:Men account for 81% of homicide victims globally (3).
- Workplace safety:Men account for 92–95% of workplace fatalities in major industrial economies (4).
- Incarceration:Roughly 10.9 million men are imprisoned worldwide, while female prisoners number 0.8 million (5).
- Education:Women now outpace men in tertiary enrollment globally (6). Millions of boys remain out of school (7).
- Child labor:Boys make up the majority of children engaged in hazardous child labor (8).
- Homelessness:Men comprise an estimated 76% of the global homeless population (9).
- Family policy:UN frameworks on parenting and reproductive policy engage fathers only indirectly (10)(11).
- Media framing:A 2006 five-year content analysis found that 69% of news coverage of men was unfavorable (12). But UN media efforts frame masculinity as a defect to be corrected — not a contribution to be recognized.
These omissions are the predictable result of a global institution oriented for more than a decade toward a one-sided conception of “gender equality.”
Female disadvantage is named, funded, and addressed. Male disadvantage is ignored.
The ICMB calls on the United Nations to restore the UN’s founding commitment to equal rights for men and women. At a minimum, the required reforms include:
- Establish a dedicated UN body for men and boys, equivalent to UN Women
- Recognize International Men’s Day on November 19
- Report outcomes for both sexes in every UN gender program
- Endorse the New York Declaration for Men and Boys
- Appoint a UN Special Rapporteur on the rights and well-being of men and boys
The 12-issue series is not intended to diminish ongoing efforts on behalf of women and girls. It is intended to ensure that gender equality, as written into Article 1 of the UN Charter (13), is delivered to both sexes — without exception.
The International Council for Men and Boys is a non-governmental organization working to end the 12 sex disparities that affect men and boys worldwide. The ICMB is a leader of the emerging global movement to address these disparities. https://www.menandboys.net/
