Men’s Equality Month and International Men’s Day, 2024

Summary of Activities and Events

Over 300 events were held in 22 countries around the world, and millions of persons reached on social media during the 2024 Men’s Equality Month and International Men’s Day:

  1. Argentina:
    • November 14-15: The Center for Parental Alienation Studies held an international Congress in Buenos Aires.
    • November 20: Following two hears of intensive community organizing activities. the Argentine Senate held a well-attended hearing on false allegations.
    • November 26: The Argentine Senate approved a new policy to impose legal sanctions on persons who make false allegations.

2. Australia:

    • MP Pauline Hanson spoke on the need for a national Minister for Men.
    • November 19: An International Men’s Day celebration was held at the Norwood Football Club. featuring Sarah Game, MLC.
    • November 19:  Paul Withall and the Zerosuicide community awareness program team highlighted the reality of male suicide in Australia.  2,500 boots were placed on the lawn in front of Parliament House Canberra.
    • November 27: Sarah Game MLC gave a six-minute presentation to Parliament about the importance of International Men’s Day.

3. Canada:

    • International Men’s Day Canada held an observance at the Trinidad and Tobago Consulate in North York. Aryan Doorga (13), Irshaad Ali (16) and Makhi Williams (14) inspired the attendees with stories of mentorship and growth.
    • MP Shaun Chen and the Mayor and City Council members of Richmond Hill issued statements in support of IMD.
    • Alberta’s first DV shelter for fathers was opened.

    • The All-Bengal Men’s Forum held multiple events throughout the month.
    • November 29: Several female students came to the All Bengal Men’s Forum office to support men’s issues.

7. Ireland:

    • For the November 29 election, Men’s Voices Ireland wrote to most of the 680 candidates setting out male concerns and asking for their support if elected. We published the responses received on our website.
    • November 22:  Newry Chamber held its inaugural International Men’s Day Event at Newry City AFC Social Club on Friday 22nd November.
    • Men’s Voices Ireland published an article on the party manifestos at The Centre for Male Psychology.

    • The African Boychild Network held a well-attended event sponsored by the Gender Club of the University of Kabianga.
    • Hon. John Kipruto Malel, with the Government of Kericho County Office of Youth Affairs, Gender, and Sports, spoke on his programs bringing the boys into the gender agenda.

    • The Metro Premier Medical Centre “brings you an exclusive package designed to celebrate the journey, strength, and style of men everywhere.”

    • Several organizations hosted seminars, panel discussions, and community events. For example, the National Family Council launched the “Dads for Life” campaign, which aims to support fathers in their parenting journey and create a society that values co-parenting.

    • November 16: ANAVID organized a demonstration in Madrid,  attended by 300 persons, to publicize the country’s unfair domestic abuse policies.
    • Madrid City Hall Councillor Carla Toscano issued this statement: “It’s an honor to accompany victims of the gender law: men falsely accused, sons without fathers, grandmothers without grandsons…broken, hurting families that are waging a heroic fight for justice. With all my heart, I am always with you.”

17. St Kitts and Nevis:

    • On November 30, the national Department of Social Development and Gender Affairs honored over 20 men as positive role models.

18. Sweden:

    • November 19: The Akilles Association gave a lecture to lay judges about women’s violence against men.

    • November 20: The Minister of Gender and Child Affairs launched a new Men’s Bureau.

21. United States:
